WW1 Day – Maple 9th February 2018
What a fantastic day and how brilliant did the children look in their WW1 themed costumes. The day was topped off with an impressive exhibition after school showcasing all the hard work the Oakmere children have produced on WW1 over the half-term.
I hope you have a great half-term break and I look forward to seeing you all refreshed and ready for learning in a weeks time!
World War 1 Heroes 2nd February 2018
We are almost at the end of our Superheroes topic and this academic half-term! It has been a busy but extremely fun half-term of learning. We have done everything from learning our ‘Wanna be a superhero’ song to creating our own WW1 medals out of clay. The children have also focused on the characteristics of a hero, such as determination, hard-work and kindness and have been working hard to ensure they themselves are displaying their own superhero behaviors in school. Attached are a few examples of the wonderful WW1 medals the children created after finding out about some real-life WW1 heroes and exploring the different types of medals the were awarded. They look fantastic and we look forward to creating a display with all our topic work from this half-term.
Just a reminder that next Friday (last day of the half-term) is WW1 Day where the children are invited to dress up from this era if they would like to. This is Oakmere’s way of recognising that it has been 100 years since WW1 ended.
We look forward to jam packed but fantastic last week of learning before the children’s well deserved half-term break. Please check back soon and as always our doors are always open if there is anything we can help with.
Have a lovely weekend!

Festive dates and information 8th December 2017
You are invited along to watch our KS1 Christmas Production. It’s sure to be full of singing, dancing and festive cheer! Letters went home today (Friday) to ask you to bring in a particular costume for your child for Tuesday (our dress rehearsal). Letters will be going home Monday about tickets to the show.
The production itself is on Thursday 14th December at 2:15 in the Junior Hall. Due to space we can only allocate 2 tickets per child and we kindly ask if younger siblings could not attend as we don’t want to put our children off (they’ve been working very hard!).
Also on Thursday 14th your children have the opportunity to take part in a Christmas Workshop in the morning. We have asked each child to contribute £2 towards the costs of the resources and your child will leave the experience with their own bag of Christmas crafts and goodies. Could we ask for this donation to come in as soon as possible.
Lastly, just a reminder that your child’s choice of Christmas lunch needs to be handed to the class teacher or office as soon as possible so the kitchen can start to make preparations for the grand feast.
Have a lovely weekend!
